Introduction

For this week's activity, you will write a SWS-formatted essay analyzing a case in terms of managing a business crisis.

You will refer to this week's readings and Coach's Huddle. First, review the section titled Types of Business Crises:What Could Go Wrong? After a thorough understanding, review the steps in the next section, Crisis Management: How to Control the Damage.

Instructions

Step 1. Download the Managing the Damage - Crisis Management Template.

Step 2. Follow the template to complete the activity.

Step 3. Select an article on an organization of your choice that has experienced a business crisis.
a. You may use one of the organizations listed in Coach's Huddle or choose another that you will cite and reference in the essay.

Step 4. Write an essay following the requirements below:
a. Write a summary of the incident and the type of crisis experienced by the selected organization. Use the following as a suggested topic outline, keeping your responses clear and concise.
b.
i. Describe the personal and/or business ethical issues faced.
ii. Describe how the organization managed three major steps to crisis management for the incident chosen.
iii. Determine who was a part of the crisis management team and who the spokesperson was.
iv. Describe the crisis management plan.
v. Describe the crisis communications plan.
vi. Describe the damage-including reputation-and plans on how to continue business operations.
vii. Manage the company's reputation.
viii. Determine opportunities or changes to the business that can be implemented to prevent a future similar crisis.
c. Address the questions from the decision-making model.
d. Support your claims and assertions using citations or quotes.
i. Include at least two scholarly sources.
ii. Cite each source at least once in your essay.

Step 5. Conduct your final analysis on this organization based on the crisis and how they planned to move forward ethically.
