Question: The purpose of this activity is to review grammar points connected with writing in the past tense. As we move on to Unit 8 in the textbook, we are going to study advanced grammar tenses (past continuous and past perfect) and how to put them in a story. After we have studied those things, we will come back to this writing and use it for practice activities. :-)
However, for now, the purpose is just to review what you already know about regular verbs, irregular verbs, modals, etc., in the past tense.
Part 1 Instructions
On your Google Document, write a story about your life. Choose a story which you would like to share with your teacher and classmates. You can base your story on one of the topics that we are going to study in this class:
the weather / severe weather / natural disasters
technology
health
looking for a job / applying for a job / going to a job interview
Or, if you prefer, you can just tell:
a funny or interesting story from your life
Explain what happened first, what happened second, what happened after that, etc. Tell all the events in order from beginning to end. You should write 15 sentences and use at least 20 different past tense verbs. (You can also use other verbs like gerunds and infinitives.)
