Production Viewing Response

Use these guidelines to create a paper based on the theatre production you were assigned to watch for this class:

1. Watch the production, perhaps more than once. Pay attention to the choices that the production team (director, designers, and actors) have made to create a unique production. If necessary, take notes during your viewing(s).

3. Write a two-page paper (500 words minimum), following standard college-writing standards, addressing the following:

Pick a single element of the production (for example, the work of a major actor, one of the design elements, choreography, etc) and write a review of that particular part of the production. This will require you to go into depth, with details and an opinion. Did it work? Or not? Why? There are no wrong answers, you are arguing your opinion, based on what we have studied. This is not a paper in which you tell me the plot, but a critique in which you argue what you felt was effective/ineffective about an artist's choices, and WHY. If looking at a major actor, you will be looking at their acting choices; if a designer, their design choices and how well they supported the show.

4. You will be graded on how strongly you support your opinion. I do not care what you felt, as long as you support your opinions with details and arguments. Additionally, writing (including spelling and grammar), will be a part of your grade.
