RESEARCH PAPER OUTLINE
Description: Write a research paper that reports on and analyses research articles based in applied behavior analysis of the student's choice. The research paper will be developed in three assignments: an outline, a report, and an analysis. The two articles can be related in any way as long as there is a clear, arguable connection. Both articles must also feature skill acquisition or behavior reduction with an intervention that produced figures and results. Choose carefully, as these topics will be what students base their BIP, FBA, and Protocol on later in the semester. Students are welcome to choose something inspired by their career aspirations or current real-world experiences. However, students cannot include information that acts as direct replications of protected personal information, materials, or data collected or developed as a part of their employment.
Outline Description: To develop the outline, students will read their research articles, take notes, and organize them in an outline. The final research paper will include 4 pages; a half-page worth for an introduction, 2 pages worth for a report of the articles, 1 page worth for analysis and discussion, and finally, another half-page worth of conclusion. The final paper can have the report and analysis mixed across 3 pages or organized into distinct sections. The outline will reflect the structure students choose to implement and the specific details they will include for the entire Research Paper. The outline will ultimately be a collection of organized notes and arguments from each article. Therefore, the outline does not need to be written in full sentences and paragraphs as long as there is clear structure and meaning. Keep in mind that students will not be able to include every single detail from each article and must pick and choose the details they think are the most important to include.
