1. You are required to write a report on the recruitment, selection and induction framework of employment within your organisation or an organisation of your choice.

In addition you are required to develop policies, procedures for the recruitment, selection and induction of employment. These policies and procedures are to be included as appendices in your report.

Specifically you need to address the following criteria:

2. Perform the following tasks to identify gaps in existing processes or documentation to assist you in developing improved policies, procedures and supporting documentation for the recruitment, selection and induction process. Ensure you discuss outcomes of these tasks in your report.

  • Analyse the linkage of recruitment, selection and induction practices to the organisation's strategic and operational plans and policies.
  • Identify how technology can improve and support the effectiveness and efficiency of recruitment, selection and induction processes
  • Review how effectively current job descriptions and specifications are being used to advertise for vacant positions and determine any required improvements
  • Identify the training and support that will be required by all people involved in the recruitment and selection process
  • Identify how relevant terms and conditions of employment are communicated to new employees
  • Determine how training and support will be provided to people involved in the recruitment and selection process
  • Identify the legislative requirements for equal opportunity, industrial relations and anti-discrimination that will be included in the organisations recruitment, selection and induction policies and procedures
  • Consult with relevant people to determine future human resource needs of the organisation and obtain support for the development of relevant policies and procedures
  • Identify the role of specialists in the recruitment, selection and induction process and determine when and how their services will be used

 4. Develop procedures and supporting documentation for the organisation that outline the processes involved for recruitment, selection and induction

5. Consult with relevant people to test and update your policies, procedures and supporting documentation and forms

6. Provide responses/explanations to the following in your report:

  • Explain how the policies and procedures you have developed meet the requirements of relevant legislation on equal opportunity, industrial relations and anti-discrimination
  • Explain how relevant managers will be consulted regarding the introduction of new policies, procedures or forms
  • Explain the role of position descriptions in the recruitment process
  • Describe how training and other forms of support are provided to employees involved in the recruitment and selection process
  • Explain how advertising of vacant positions is compliant with organisational policy and relevant industrial legislation
  • Identify the selection methods used and explain how these methods are in accordance with organisational policy and relevant industrial legislation
  • Explain the role of psychometric assessment in the selection process
  • Define the purpose and content of an employment contract
  • Provide suggestions for improvements in the recruitment and selection process
  • Explain how the organisation addresses diversity management in recruitment, selection and induction procedures
  • Explain how induction processes are implemented across the organisation
  • Explain how the probationary period of employees is managed.
  • Provide four examples of feedback you would provide to new employees prior to their employment being confirmed or terminated
  • Describe the process used to train and provide on-going support for employees engaged in staff induction
  • Describe how policies, procedures and supporting documentation for recruitment, selection and induction will be evaluated.
  • Gather feedback from participants and managers on the effectiveness of the induction process

7. Update and improve induction policies and procedures using feedback obtained from participants and managers.

Remember to include the policies, procedures and supporting documentation you developed as appendices in your report.
