Assessment Task: Plan Work Priorities
The following Assessment Tasks use a simulated business called Complete Business Solutions Australia (CBSA). To complete the tasks, you will need to access information, templates, and policies and procedures found under CBSA resources on Moodle.
For this assessment, you will play the role of Adrian Russo, CBSA Marketing Strategist. CBSA is a consultancy service providing assistance with compliance, finances, human resources, information technology and other business needs to ensure that businesses have the expertise and support that they need to survive and prosper. You should familiarise yourself with what CBSA does, the company's services and history, its organisational structure and its employees. Ensure that you read the CBSA Business Plan to understand the company's mission, vision and business objectives.
PART A: RESEARCH PRIORITY MANAGEMENT TOOLS
To begin this part, read the following email and its attachment, then complete the tasks that follow:
Due to recent scope creep and scheduling issues in a number of our projects, I am asking for the managers to schedule their work duties better and try to avoid these issues occurring again. I would like you to research possible scheduling tools, and then use one of these to schedule in your weekly work duties which I have attached for your reference.
Weekly job tasks for Sales and Marketing Manager:
• Respond to a media enquiry from the local paper about services offered (U).
• Analyse media data to determine the effectiveness of recent tv campaign and write a report for Managing Director (M).
• Conduct weekly staff meeting and write up outcomes to send to team members (R).
• Conduct a marketing strategist performance review (R).

• Meet with the Managing Director to plan events for the year (M).
• Prepare a schedule of events based on meeting (M).
TASK INSTRUCTIONS
Based on the email and its attachment, you are to complete the following tasks:
1. You are required to research at least three useful technologies/tools that managers can use to manage their work priorities. Your research should be such that you are able to describe each of the three tools/technologies and how it assists in planning and prioritising work.
2. Using one of the technologies you have researched, prepare a schedule for a typical week incorporating all of the tasks listed for the job role provided to youin the attached email. You will also need to factor in at least 30 minutes a day for relaxation to ensure a work-life balance. This can be any activity you choose.
Assume your working hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break and that your travel time to work each day is 30 minutes each way. You should also include at least 2 x 2 hours slots during your week to catch up on jobs not completed.
3. On the Tuesday afternoon, one of the systems your team uses breaks, and the IT team is working on a solution. This has pushed back your team's weekly schedule by at least half a day. On the Wednesday morning the Human Resources Manager asks you to meet with them as an unexpected issue has been raised; that meeting takes two hours out of your day.Make changes to your electronic schedule to fit these unexpected tasks while maintaining your work-life balance. Provide justification.
4. Submit the notes of your research, your weekly schedule and your adjusted schedule to the Managing Director using the organisation's email template (accessible via the CBSA resources on Moodle). The email must:
• use the Email Template
• specify who the email is being delivered to
• specify who the email is being sent from
• specify the date and time the email was sent
• specify a relevant subject for the email
• specify the research document, the weekly schedule, and the modified weekly schedule as the attachments
• specify the body of the email detailing why they are sending this email. You must provide your justification for the re-scheduled tasks.

PART B: RESEARCH AND REPORT ON STRESS
To begin this part, read the following email and then complete the tasks that follow:

Based on the email, you are to complete the following task:
Using a word processor, prepare a report of approximately two pages that outlines your research and your recommendation for the four health and wellbeing programs, including:
• the signs and impact of stress
• strategies that staff can use at home and at work to manage their stress
• the benefits of health and wellbeing programs for the organisations they work for
• four health and wellbeing programs.
Your recommendations should be based on evidence of effectiveness and success and include enough detail for the Managing Director to decide on whether to proceed. Be sure to quote your sources of information.
