Waratah Park (the park), the former home of Skippy the Bush Kangaroo, has been closed to the public since 2006. The MLALC (Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council) plans to revitalise the park and reopen it as a cultural and educational centre the MLALC seeks to use Waratah Park as an educational centre for Aboriginal cultural and environmental education programs.

There is the opportunity to include educational displays of the Aboriginal cultural heritage of the area, the biodiversity and other thematic displays along with the Skippy the Bush Kangaroomemorabilia to provide a wider interpretation of the park's significance, beyond its place in the history of Australian television.
