Assessment: Professional Conversation

Professional conversations are not "chit-chats" but purposeful reflective dialogues. These conversations are critical for professional growth and central to both mentoring and coaching.

This assessment requires you to participate in a professional conversation with a peer. The peer, as mentee or coachee, must be an adult and have full acknowledgement of the conversation and its requirements. They will need to sign a permission note for your files.

Develop a plan (1200 words) for your professional conversation based on the subject readings and your own research. Whilst, as a Mentor/coach, you must be flexible and responsive to your mentee/coachee, you should also be prepared with carefully crafted questions and prompts that will support you to facilitate a quality professional conversation. In this plan you should include: the context, the aims/purpose of the professional conversation; the type of approach to coaching and or mentoing you plan undertake and a semi structured script including prompts for draft questions and strategies you may utilise to facilitate an effective conversation; You will need to include references to subject materials support your plan and support with further literature.

Write a reflection using the analysis prompts on the professional conversation (1200 words). See subject outline for detailed information.
