Proposal and Bibliography Assignment

Instructions:

After you have chosen a research paper topic to write on, this assignment asks you to complete two tasks:

write a proposal that summarizes the main argument and structure of your research paper, and compile a list of your sources for your research paper and briefly summarize their arguments

For the proposal, please provide an outline of your essay's argument following the model provided on pages 136-137 of The Active Reader (5th ed.). You should mention the main points of your essay here, and provide some background information to justify your research topic.

For the annotated bibliography, please provide a complete MLA or APA bibliographic entry for 7 of the sources you plan to use in your essay and a short paragraph (around 100-125 words) for 4 of these sources, in which you briefly summarize each source's argument and major claims.

I am grading your annotated bibliographies on the quality of your bibliographic entries (that is, your use of proper MLA or APA style) and the clarity of your summaries. Format matters here; make sure you adhere to the standards of MLA or APA style. I am grading your proposals on their accuracy and specificity, and on their ability to make your research project appear viable.

Your assignments should adhere to either MLA or APA style, and to the research proposal model Henderson provides on pages 136-137 of The Active Reader.
