All students must present a musical ethnography, as outlined in detail in Chapter 11 of the textbook. Your topic does not need to be "World Music" in nature; it can be any music of your choosing. You are encouraged to do a multi-media presentation, and may include interviews, musical recordings, video recordings, and/or a written report. You may go as high- or low-tech as you like, but be prepared with about 10 minutes of presentation material.
Each student will need to submit a proposal for their ethnography project topic. Your topic does not need to be "World Music" in nature; it can be any music of your choosing. Consider choosing a topic that you either know a lot about, or one that you are interested in learning more about. For example, if you come from a culture that has very different musical traditions, you may choose to present on that subject. Or, perhaps you are interested in music from a culture that you do not know much about. This would also be a great topic of choice.
