Project - Human Resource Management

The entire project need to be corrected and bring to a level of a thesis.

Outline

Introduction and Context
- outline the general field of study
- introduce particular context of study
- reason for selection
- learning objectives
- outline of thesis structure
2 Literature Review
- critical discussion of relevant literature
- structured around relevant topics and issues
- making critical comparison between different literature sets and authors
- drawing conclusions relative to your study

3. description of methodology used
- discussion of reasons for selection
- data gathering and analysis techniques
- problems and limitations in data gathering and analysis
- Findings
- descriptive summary of findings from data
- categorized under appropriate headings
- using key data in support of categories, integrated with text
- remember to answer the ‘so what' question (so what does
- this mean for me/the organisation or whatever)

The purpose of the literature review is to:
- provide the background and context for your study.
- understand the current thinking/issues and debates in the area from what other researchers have already done in the area.
- legitimise your arguments and evaluate what others have done - consider how others have operationalised their research questions and methodology.
- narrow down to highlight the works most relevant to your research.
- to evaluate and explore any gaps in this existing knowledge.
- help develop a clearly stated research question/refine the questions you wish to explore or the argument to develop.
- enhance and acquire subject vocabulary.
- demonstrate a clear understanding of the topic.
- lead the reader into the subsequent sections of your project which should explore these issues.

- Every chapter and section/subsection within the thesis must be numbered (e.g. Chapter 1; 1.1 Introduction; 1.2 Background to the Project; 1.3 Project Rationale .... and so on for each chapter). You have no numbering at all. Some of the section heading are in capital, others in standard text? Why? You need to be consistent throughout the report.

- Charts/graphs/pictures/images

- Each one of these must be numbered with a separate numbering system for each (e.g. Chart 1.3, Picture 1.2 ..) with the first digit being the chapter, the second being the actual number of the chart/picture in that chapter.

- Each one must have a title and if taken from a published source, must have a full reference including page number of the reference.

- They should only be included in the text if they add value and there is some discussion around them (e.g. see Figure 1.5 below developed by ... which represents ...and is important because ...). If you are including a chart/graph/picture simply as background information, it should be taken out of the text and put as an appendix. You have a number of these none of which are referenced and discussed in the text.

- You have several ‘pictures' (page 22, 34, 35, 37, 38, 40, 41. What value do these add to the discussion?

- In-text referencing:

- In some cases where there are more than two authors, you have put in all the author names (Mujahid, Sameen, Naz...) in other cases you have used et. al. You need to be consistent throughout the report and the standard format is et al.

- There are some references where the dates in not included (e.g. Edwin Filippo).

- You have referenced Deloitte (2013) several times, I do not see if in the bibliography/reference section.

- References: the format for online references is incorrect; one of the online references in in bold text. Why?

- The Abstract should be 2 paragraphs, the first setting out what you set out to achieve, the second summarising what you actually

achieved - maximum 350 words in total.
All of the above are relatively easy to correct; the more important issue is that of content.

- The Introduction chapter is important because this where you lay out the objectives of the research; in the abstract you suggest that the project will find practices for organizations to work with in terms of talent acquisitions - if this is the case the introductory chapter should spell out some background to the project, the rationale behind undertaking the project, a short summary of the chapters which follow and so on.

- The chapter on HRM which I assume is the ‘Literature Review,' is a very long, rambling document which appears to attempt to cover the whole HRM area; rather than a critical review of the literature which is what is required, it is simply a regurgitation of the literature. In the abstract you suggest that the project will find practices for organisations to work with in terms of talent acquisitions - if this is the case the literature should focus on issues related to this - do you need the lengthy discussion on the history of HRM, purpose, requirements ... organisational politics etc?

- You must have a methodology chapter - why is methodology important, what methodologies did you select, why, what if any, problems did you experience in carry out your research ...and so on.

- Every chapter except Chapter 1, should have a short introduction and close with a ‘conclusions' section.

"This assignment was about Best Practices related to Talent Acquisition and Talent Retention. The structure of the dissertation was first understanding the basic concepts and major factors relating to talent acquisition and retention followed by an analysis of interview and the survey results. The literature review revealed that some of the major factors were organizational politics, cost to the firm and current economic conditions. Some of the retention factors were motivation, challenging but meaningful work, career advancement etc., Some of the findings of the survey didn't match with that of the literature review. For example, salary or compensation didn't have a correlation with the decision for the employee to stay or leave the organization. Also, organizational politics didn't impact this decision significantly.

, I would expect to present this survey in a graph mode , by Gender or age group or v/s some specific questions related to first recruitment : for example to group all questions related to recruitemnts and then make an analysis and compared this results to the literature readings, and try see what is the best practice , also to dispute the literature with the findings, secondly from the survey draw another graph where we have incentives given like T&D, Compensations , and prove that these practices helps to retain talent , and then compare this results with literature and survey, I hope you are getting the understand of the usage of this survey. You also have to explain what is this survey, and how quatitative surey can be bias or predudice. Note that I received th questions only today, therefore I will have the interviews by tomorrow.

Could you please communicate to the tutor that the project need to have two side of the coin, one is based on Recruitment,(Talent Acquisitions) and secondly what organizations put in place as a best practice to retain this Talent, for example Training and Development, etc.. but not too much perhaps here he can take only 3 major incentives which can motivate Talent to stay in an organizations, there should not be too much of literature readings, but more references and existing practices.. Please tell tutor that the survey will be in the methodology part hence there is still lots of work to be done , so I will be sending the survey by tomorrow, ask him to design some questions which can be asked and send to me so that it can work for the methodology part please.

Pls find attached, this is just an example on Methodolgy and findings, it can be useful to follow the pattern on my subject, on the practices of Organistions with talent acquisitions ..etc.. pls this is not mine so don't use it at all, it is just to have a reference, nothing to copied here. Also, if you can put me in contact with him, see below he can have an idea also..... http://www.ermt.net/docs/papers/Volume_3/11_November2014/V3N11-183.pdf Also , facts that he has seen the survey, what can he suggest as the objectives of the project, can he suggest me something so that we can use the survey and also some face to facec interviews, The project should be based on Talent Acquistions practices. so perhaps he can bring changes in the Abstract also . No need to rush for Wednesday, he can finish on Thursday, however, everyday he will have to give me part completed for review and if there should be any modifications I can ask him to do it immediately.

I sent everything every single details and now he will really need to go through the request correctly and understand how to re-organize and complete the thesis. The way that the references need to be put also has been mentioned so please make sure that the person doing is it is really an expert. The red one is the subject and the 3 parts needs to be developed in yellow ( HRM, Recruitments, Traning & Development, Talent Acquistions ). The purple one need to removed. Check the original Abstract from the report I sent , here I am modifying it a little bit to get to result. The research seeks to find practices for organizations to work with HRM to get processes enabling talent Acquisitions. In order to achieve these findings, our focus will be on HRM, Recruitments, Training & Development and talent acquisitions ; perhaps we also need to bring the employee engaged here (..)
