1. For this paper select one of the following options for analysis:

2. Provide a three-page paper (not including name, title, date, etc.) discussing how race, class, and gender were portrayed-were the three things openly discussed? How are they portrayed (for example, through photographs in the magazine, images on television, or in the lyrics of the music)? Were some races, classes, or genders excluded from portrayal? If so, you might speculate as to why that might be. In your paper, consider what underlying assumptions about race, class, and gender are reflected in the material, and/or what commonly held assumptions are challenged. Connect your ideas to what you have learned in class this semester in regard to racial tensions, gender-based practices and the various ways in which class contribute to the criminalization of certain groups. Feel free to discuss advertisements along with the other content of your selection. Be sure to apply some of the terms/concepts from this course in your paper.
