Gender Assignment
Below are the topics for this assignment, you may choose any topic, as long as it revolves around gender. An example of a topic I would suggest: Gender Disparity in Hollywood Films.
Remember you MUST integrate 3 sources from the course, 2 artifacts from popular media - TED Talk, CNN, New York Times, etc, and 2 peer-reviewed sociological journals.

Final Paper Instructions
You will have one paper due at the end of the semester, and must use the following formatting:
• Times New Roman
• 12-point font
• Double spaced
• 1-inch margins
All citations must be formatted using ASA guidelines.
Prompt:
Using the class material from any part of the semester, write a 4-page paper around a particular gender issue that you find important. It is your choice, as long as it centersaround the topics discussed in our class. Some ideas: a particular political/cultural/social event in history, a person, an idea or perspective, a piece of legislation, etc. I will look to see if you took my feedback suggestions when posting your topic ideas.
Ultimately, this paper should take some aspect of our weekly class gender topics and explore it deeper/expand on it further. For example, if you want to write about the way in which the media perpetuates sexism, you must have specific empirical examples and offer information and perspectives in your paper that go deeper than what we discussed in class.
You must integrate THREE in- class sources from any of the assigned readings TWO artifacts from the popular media (as we did with the artifact assignment) and TWO outside peer-reviewed, academic sociological and or feminist sources (sources not used in class or in our texts). Since I'm only asking for two academic sources it is key to only use sociological or feminist journals, or a multidisciplinary journal with an article written by a sociologist. How do you know this? Research the author and see what their degree is in, what department and classes do they teach?
