A. Write a mechanism for the reaction of an alkyl halide with alcoholic silver nitrate which demonstrates the type of substituition which occurs. Explain how this mechanism accounts for the relative rate of reactivity for 1 degree, 2 degree and 3 degree halides in this reaction.
