Case Study 1-

Introduction

Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) "is the process an organization uses to care for an application or software system from its conception to its retirement." (Rossberg 1967). Rossberg goes on to state that ALM is the binding together of the whole development process. In an article about how automotive companies utilize ALM, Gould states that, the design and use of ALM is different for products than it is for software and that software ALM must bring together the many aspects of project management, requirements gathering, design, building, testing, release all the way to version control and software maintenance. (Gould 2015) It is safe to say, that without utilizing the ALM process, software and other projects would face problems with poorly defined requirement leading to poorly managed projects and possibly funding issues or flat out abandonment of the project.
