TASK : Creative Writing
Task: Write a creative response exploring the key issues and ideas in the novel.
Write a sequel of the story ''A Bridge To Wiseman''s Cove''.
PART A - Creative Writing
1. Choose one of the following scenarios to base your writing on:
• Rewrite a scene from the text from another point of view.
• Write a sequel or prequel to the story.
• Write a series of diary/journal/blog entries from one character's perspective.
2. Research and find out the key features of the text type you are writing in.
3. Brainstorm ideas to develop your creative text.
• What are the key issues and ideas explored in the novel? (submit your novel study notes from class)
• Identify the issue and idea that will form the basis of your text.
• Choose which narrative point of view you will use.
• Draw on your reader response and understanding of the novel to develop and enhance the construction of characters.
4. Plan your response.
5. Draft your response.
6. Edit and proof read your response.
7. Complete a final copy.
You will be required to hand in your brainstorm, plan, draft and final copy.
Length: 400-600 words
PART B - Justification
You will complete an in-class justification.
- Why did you choose the specific option to base your writing on?
- What did you want to achieve?
- What narrative conventions and language features did you use and why?
