Question: You were elected to the Parliament of Canada and because of your technical expertise you were appointed on the parliament technical review committee that recommends new legislation related to technology to the members.

The issue is related to the usage of VPNs. The hearings, which are now done, concluded that public VPNs are mostly used for illegal and unethical activities to hide the identity of the perpetrator.

You now have a proposal to force the public VPN providers to keep track of the history of the connections that they facilitate for their clients instead of flushing them from memory. This information may only be revealed to the policing authorities under a court order.
