Recruitment Project
Purpose:
The purpose of this project is to familiarize students with the O*Net website and to allow students an opportunity to make a recruiting plan from a human resources perspective. This project will lay the foundation for the selection plan project later in the semester.
Description:
Students should imagine themselves as a human resources manager at an organization that is looking to hire new employees. Students will choose and research one of the following three positions from the O*Net website:
1. Sales Manager - 11-2022.00 from O*NET
2. Welder - 51-4121.06 from O*NET
3. Human Resource Specialist - 13.1071.00 from O*NET
Students will research one of these three jobs and make a recruitment plan. The recruitment plan should address the issues and questions listed below. Along with the recruitment plan, students should also make a job description for the position using the information from O*NET. Innovation on this project is encouraged and be sure to put the title of the position you have chosen in the paper.
Recruitment issues or questions that should be addressed in the recruitment plan:
1. Would you recruit from internal or external sources (or both)? Why?
2. If appropriate, identify the internal recruiting methods you would use and explain why.
3. If appropriate, identify the external recruiting methods you would use and explain why.
4. What geographic (external) labor market(s) will you draw from? (Local, regional, national, international) Why?
