Task 1: Plan, organise and facilitate workplace learning for an individual

Outcomes

The candidate provided the following:
• Background information about the workplace learning event Work-based Learning Plan or contract for the individual including Learning program and Session Plans

Step 1 - Provide Background information
The candidate provided information about:
• Who they trained -This could include: job title and key duties, learning style preferences, LL&N level, existing relevant skills/knowledge, availability for learning, etc.
• Organisation (workplace) in which the learning took place
• Reason for the training -This could include: learning objectives/outcomes, people to be informed, safety issues, etc.
• Other background information as needed for context to be determined
• Proof of having identified learning requirements and analyses of workplace routines to determine opportunities for learning. This could include: opportunities to organise work to provide effective learning opportunities through existing work processes
• Explanations and proof of evidence of communication involved to identify learning requirements and what was found out
• Analysis of workplace routines and discussions of:
o opportunities identified for on-the-job learning
o challenges/dangers identified for on-the-job learning

Step 2 - Work-based learning plan for the individual
The candidate provided a work place document that:
• reflected a workplace learning progression that identified and addressed OHS implications of using the workplace as the basis for learning
• addressed the learner's specific needs, including preferred learning style/s
Included the following information:
• Goals/outcomes of the learning
• Time frames
• Frequency of meetings/length of sessions
• Learning approach/es and activities - e.g. self-paced; on the job; 1:1 coaching in a meeting room; workplace observation
• (as applicable) location of meetings/contact - e.g. meeting room, workplace, etc.
• Evaluation / assessment requirements
• Resources needed
• Support people and other key personnel to be informed/involved, and how you obtained agreement for your plan from both the learner and their supervisor
• Provided information regarding safety implications and steps required to ensure a healthy and safe learning environment

Step 3 - Learning Program and session plans
• The candidate provided or developed the overall Learning Program for the training being delivered to Learner 1.
• The candidate provided or developed detailed session plans to reflect how each training sessions for Learner 1 will be structured

Step 4 - Delivering the Training
• Did the candidate submit a video recording of the delivery?
• Was the candidate's delivery skill observed by a suitably qualified assessor outside of Fortress Learning and an Observation Checklist completed?
• Was the candidate's delivery skill observed by a Fortress Learning qualified assessor and an Observation Checklist completed?
Did the candidate:
• Setup the environment, equipment and other resources so that access, equity and safety are ensured and explain the WHS responsibilities to the learner?
• Introduce the session and give a clear idea of what to expect in the session?
• Explain the basis of the learning technique to the learner?
• Monitor any supervisory arrangements that were in place and make sure they were appropriate to learner's levels of knowledge, skill and experience to provide support and encouragement and ensure learner's health and safety?
• Present information using clear, plain-English without cluttered language or unnecessary jargon?
• Let the learner discuss or practice the skills or concepts learnt in some way?
• Conclude with a recap of what was learnt?
• Give feedback and coach the learner in a way that helped their skills progress?
• Work collaboratively with the learner and modify the session if needed to ensure the learner's needs were met?
• Monitor safety throughout the session?
• Adopt a training approach was appropriate for the learner?
• Manage time effectively?
• Exercise observation skills to monitor the learner's progress?
• Use effective verbal and non-verbal language?
• Use critical listening and questioning techniques?
• Give constructive and supportive feedback?
• Assist learners to paraphrase advice or instructions back to the trainer/facilitator?
• Provide clear and concrete options and advice?
• Use appropriate industry/profession terminology and language, and use information and communications technology (ICT) based tools to design work processes and to complete work tasks?
• Ensure language, literacy and numeracy used is appropriate to learners?

Step 5 - Record the learning and results
Did the candidate:
• Document the learning that took place (when, where, how, with whom)?
• (If applicable) make adjustments to the learning plan as the learning progressed?
• Document the results (evaluate the effectiveness of the work-based pathway against the goals/outcomes of the learning)?
• Make recommendations for improvements that can be made to work-based practice in light of the facilitation of this learning pathway?

Step 6 - Written Feedback (Evaluation) from the Learner
• Did the candidate provide feedback from their candidate?

Step 7 - Reflection on the learning event
