You are an athletic training student and intern working in the athletic training department at your high school. An athlete comes into the clinic following an intense soccer practice asking for a quick fix for her hip pain so she can get going quickly to work on her homework. It is your job to collect intake information before pulling in the athletic trainer for his assessment. Because you know this athlete well you know that she has a high pain tolerance. She seems irritable and in a hurry. She doesn't want to waste time on the intake and just wants you to grab the trainer quickly. Necessary information that needs to be gathered: Chief complaint, onset of injury/pain, how the injury happened, complete information about the pain. How do you respond and gather the necessary information? What other types of observations should you be making and noting?
