A client-focused clinical problem for which a nurse practitioner can actively advocate for an evidence-based practice change is women's reproductive health legislation and access to reproductive care within our country. As a controversial issue and the 2022 overturn of a constitutional right to healthcare privacy and medical abortion healthcare, as a registered nurse and future nurse practitioner, I feel access to abortion care is a women's constitutional healthcare right, and evidence-based practice should be upheld within the law. There are many researchers and statistics regarding the medical abortion procedure, however, within legislation, evidence-based practice has not been evaluated and upheld as current practice without a shadow of a doubt. It is a nurse's ethical duty to advocate for every individual, regardless of their identification, to protect the rights, health, and safety of all patients (Haddad & Geiger, 2023). Certain states within the United States have banned abortion care for women and have developed legislation to punish providers with felony charges, including nurse practitioners providing women's healthcare, if they perform medical abortion care. In recent years, many women have had to wait until physical harm awaits them prior to receiving the life-saving medical abortion procedure. According to the World Health Organization,
