Lydia works in a women's and children's domestic violence shelter that focuses on preventing homelessness, substance use and increasing stability with this population. Unfortunately, the program has suffered many funding cutbacks, so it is putting more efforts into fund raising. Lydia wants to share her ideas to gain revenue for the program and has come to you for your guidance. She shares that all of the clients in the facility disclosed drug and alcohol use as a contributing factor for their domestic violence as part of the admission criteria. She further states that many of the reported episodes of family violence occurred while the perpetrator---and sometimes the victim were under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Considering the link between the substance use and domestic violence, she wants to contact local alcohol stores to raise money for the shelter through a wine-tasting party, as well as a "fun run" with the support of a local beer wholesaler. She believes that teaching clients to have a positive relationship with alcohol will assist them in increasing their coping skills and stability once they discharge from the program and wants your feedback.

Consider the situation Lydia presents, are there conflicting ethical viewpoints in this situation?

What feedback would you give Lydia regarding her ideas to support the prevention program? Support your answer with one NOHS (2015) ethical standard
