Question

A young woman underwent extraction of her maxillary right third molar. Multiple injections were performed by her dentist in order to obtain adequate anesthesia. Three days following the extraction, she had pain and swelling in the related region. When she presented at a dental clinic she displayed swelling over the temporalis muscle, restricted mouth opening, fever, and malaise. She also complained of a severe headache as well as numbness in the right half of her lower lip. An MRI revealed an abscess in the infratemporal space. Discuss the anatomy related to this case.
