You stated, "Within the criminal justice system, justice is viewed to be making sure that the time fits the crime, and that if a law is broken, then the offender needs to be reprimanded because according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics the criminal justice system believed that "crimes against an individual are crimes against the state" , which in return the main focus is that people should not get away with committed a crime because it affects more than just the victim." I think one of the most important reasons why I became a law enforcement officer was to assist those that could not defend themselves, either from physical force or theft by deception. Criminals prey on the weak, thus need law enforcement personnel with a set of ethics to assist when needed. Another big area is the personal life of the law enforcement. We must lead by example both on and off duty. It is very hard to be a criminal and yet enforce law yourself. Still another issue is not letting your emotions, prejudices, or animosities to interfere with your daily functions as a law enforcement officer. Everyone has prejudices; however, as a law enforcement officer, those must be put aside and we must conduct ourselves in a professional manner at all times. Finally, trust is another important aspect that we must abide by. We must both trust our partner as well as ensuring the people we serve can trust us. Are there situations in some cultures that may be unethical but not in others ?
