Week 03 Discussion - Real Photography

With the advent of digital photography, it is easier than ever to combine or alter images with a simple click of the mouse. It does begin to bring up the question; can we really believe what we see?

Considering that photography is a medium that can convey a million emotions in one single image, is it ethical for a photographer to draw more emotional response by digitally altering an image? Is this any different than using different lighting in a studio to create an effect?

Please respond to student's post!

By. Dawsey

No a days looking at someone's picture we can not believe what we see there are so many filters you can use to make your picture just the way you like it by adding graphics or taking away things, you can darken your skin or lighten yourself just depends on what you want. I have this thing on my phone called Snap Chat and I can even add puppy ears, bunny rabbit ears and set my face tone the way I want it. I believe that it is ethical for a photographer to draw more emotional responses by digitally altering an image because the photographer is there to sell a photo and they will make it look as good as they can for you to buy this photo. Using different lighting in a studio to create an effect just to me goes back to make a picture look its best so the customers would like what they see. Also with using different light in a studio can create different effects depending on what you are looking for in your photo.
