You are employed as an engineer for a startup company. The company is now in the planning stage, and some important decisions must be made about what technology will be leveraged. The company is to be headquartered in Chicago, with small branch offices in Miami and New York City. Full interoffice connectivity must exist. You thought of a LAN/WAN model as a solution for the company's network; however, you must explain the solution to the rest of the team so they can understand the undertaking.

In a document of 1-2 pages, discuss the following:

  • What is a LAN? How does the implementation of a LAN work? Discuss benefits and limitations of a LAN.
  • What is a WAN? How does the implementation of a WAN work? Discuss the benefits and drawbacks of the implementation of a WAN.
