According to the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, "Intellectual disability is characterized by significant limitations both in intellectual functioning and in adaptive behavior", which covers many everyday social and practical skills.

Instructions: Imagine that you are the parent of an intellectually disabled child and that their school district is either recommending placement in a special needs classroom or mainstreaming. You are to write to the school requesting one of those options, stating why you want your child put in one of the settings. Describe the pros and cons of each setting, but strongly request one particular choice. Explain your reasoning.
