Overview

The focus of this discussion post is to address the impact of at least one of the social determinants of health on an identified health concern in the U.S., (examples: infant mortality rate, obesity, cardiovascular disease, or immunizations). The initial post will consist of one paragraph describing/explaining the SDOH that you consider having the greatest impact on the overall health of populations in the U.S. Give an example of one specific population within the U.S. that is heavily impacted by the chosen SDOH. Write a second paragraph explaining the relationship among the chosen SDOH, the U.S. population, and the population where you live.

For this discussion, we will explore Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) in the United States.

Healthy People 2030 list five key areas of SDOH: (i) Economic Stability; (ii) Education Access and Quality; (iii) Social and Community Context; (iv) Health Care Access and Quality; and (v) Neighborhood and Built Environment. Using some of the resources provided to you in Instructional Materials, as well as at least 1 scholarly journal article, write one paragraph describing/explaining social determinants of health. Choose the SDOH that you feel most strongly about and explain why you find this SDOH to be so impactful to the overall health of populations in the U.S. Give an example of a specific population within the U.S. that is heavily impacted by this SDOH.
