Assignment:

"The Creation of Adam" is probably one of the most iconic pieces of art every created. It is full of symbolism, some of it obvious and some of it subtle. You mentioned that Michelangelo needed to interpret the image of God because in the Bible his physical description is not clear. This is true, and we might assume that when Genesis refers to God creating man in his own image, that a personified deity is what we can imagine. If you look at the figure of God in this painting, in particular the outline of the cloth that encompasses God and the angels, it takes on the very distinct shape of the human brain. Michelangelo studied human anatomy very carefully to give his subjects the most realistic physiological depictions, so it stands to reason that he knew exactly what the human brain looked like, and then applied that to his painting. In his own way, showing the divine intelligence behind all of creation.

Even though the image is static/stationary, it also implies movement. Why would movement be an important element to depict in a painting?
