Question: One of the biggest problems with correlational research is the desire of researchers (or more typically, those who read the research) to turn the findings into casual relationships. If a researcher has found a strong relationship between the amount of money spent on crime prevention by a town/city and the annual number of serious crimes in the town/city, wherein the data shows that as the amount of money spent on crime prevention increases so does the number of serious crimes recorded.
