This impedes the diffusion of H+ across the mitochondrial membrane, reducing it but not stopping it.

a. Where would you expect to find the DNA that has this mutation? Why?

b. What part of ATP synthase would you expect the mutation to affect? Be sure to discuss how changes in the protein could lead to slower diffusion across the membrane.

c. As the concentration of H+ builds up and the ATP Synthase cannot keep up, you observe that the electron transport chain stops accepting NADH at protein 1. As the concentration of NADH in the mitochondria increases, how will the processes of the citric acid cycle be affected? Pyruvate processing?
