Question: The ability to collaborate productively is therefore critical for individuals and businesses (Angehrn & Maxwell, 2009). However, in many competitive organizational cultures, Charles Darwin's law of natural selection - also referred to as 'survival of the fittest - is applied. Organizations that reflect such a 'star culture' tend to reward individualism, rather than collaboration. Employees are rewarded for competing with colleagues and team members. Fear dominates in these organizations, as people worry about losing their jobs or whether they can outsmart colleagues for recognition and promotion (Evans, 2012). Getting ahead requires hoarding ideas and information. Why would employees trust their colleagues and share knowledge and ideas with them if these colleagues will probably use it to get themselves promoted? Please show reference
