Question: The police bring a client who is homeless into the emergency department. He was panhandling in the street when a passerby made a comment to him to get lost. He lashed out and knocked the passerby to the ground. The client starts to yell, "You are not keeping me here!" and attempts to push the nurses out of his way to escape. Why would anyone prefer to live on the street rather than in a clean, warm hospital room with food provided? Evaluate the client's actions.
