2- Read “The Church Fathers on Psalmody and on the Dangers of Unholy Music.” Why were leaders of the early Christian church concerned about musical matters? Did they really think that music could affect morals? How so?

3- Read “Aristotle on the Purposes of Music.” Why does Aristotle argue that some amount of musical training is good for all citizens but then go on to assert that intense musical training is inappropriate for those who are or seek to become gentlemen? If some musical training is all right, why isn’t much musical training even better?
