Case: Tony is a 29-year-old computer programmer who is 6 feet tall and weighs 245 pounds. His waist circumference is 42 inches. When he was in college, he was the same height, but he weighed 175 pounds, had a waist circumference of 36 inches and jogged or played basketball for about an hour almost daily. Now, he is so tired after coming home from work, he has little time or energy to do much except watch his favorite teams on TV and then go to bed.

Because Tony has to be at work at 7am, he often skips breakfast. At his workplace, the break room that is next door to his office has several vending machines that are well-stocked with soft drinks, chips, cookies, and candy bars. When Tony feels hungry at work, he often goes to the break room to buy sugar-sweetened soft drinks, chocolate candy bars, and spicy tortilla chips to relieve his hunger.
