Question: Nonverbal redirection signals are an effective way to redirect off-task behavior. The use of nonverbal redirection signals allows the teacher to avoid using instructional minutes to complete the redirection and engages the learner in the lesson. In this assignment, you will create and plan for the use of nonverbal redirection in your classroom. Be sure to complete both steps before submitting the assignment. You will submit your assignment in a Word document.
STEP 1: Considering the off-task behaviors that often need redirection during daily instruction, identify and name five nonverbal redirection signals that you would use with all students. Be sure to use cues that are simple and relevant to the classroom rules and expectations you will implement in your classroom.
STEP 2: Script your explanation to students for when and why the nonverbal redirection signals will be used in class. You should have a script for each of the five nonverbal redirection signals you identified in step 1. Please make sure your script includes exactly what you will say to your students.
