Based on what you've read in Chapter 2 of the Christopherson text and what you've viewed in the powerpoint for this unit, do the following: 

1. In a paragraph or two (at least six sentences total), explain why the earth undergoes seasons. What causes it to be hotter in the summer and cooler in the winter? How can it be winter on half of the planet while it is summer on the other half? 

2. List the dates of summer solstice, winter solstice, spring equinox, and fall equinox for New York City, Melbourne Australia, and Tokyo Japan) (all should be listed as the 21^st of the appropriate month, even though in reality the actual day varies one or two days in either direction depending on the year). So for three cities you should have four dates listed for each.
