Problem

Even though the immigration surplus seems to be small in the United States, there is a redistribution of wealth from workers to firms. Present a back-of-the-envelope calculation of the losses accruing to native workers and of the gains accruing to firms. Do these calculations help you understand why some segments of society are so emotional in their support of changes in immigration policy that would either increase the number of immigrants or cut back the immigrant flow?
