Evidence from research on the contribution of social media to individuals' happiness is mixed. Positive feedback from social media eg receiving likes for postings has been found to contribute to improved self-esteem and increased happiness for individuals. On the other hand, individuals with higher frequency of social media usage have been found to report higher levels of anxiety.

Demonstrate how the (i) 2-factor theory of emotion and the (ii) cannon-bard theory of emotion would explain why social media may have positive effects on individuals' happiness as well as negative effects on individuals' happiness. Evaluate the relevance of each theory and its limitations for explaining the impact of social media on individuals' happiness.
