The cancer that is most commonly associated with smoking is lung cancer, but there are many others as well. According to the American Cancer Society, "besides lung cancer, tobacco use also increases the risk for cancers of the mouth, lips, nose and sinuses, larynx (voice box), pharynx (throat), esophagus (swallowing tube), stomach, pancreas, kidney, bladder, uterus, cervix, colon/rectum, ovary (mucinous), and acute myeloid leukemia (2015, para. 7). Most of these are part of the gastro-intestinal tract and/or help release toxins from the body (i.e. liver and kidneys/bladder).
