Case Study: Over the last 3 decades, the US health system has seen a rapid growth in the adoption of health information technology and digital health tools (Blount et al., 2023). These digital health tools have the opportunity to improve health disparities, however, this can only be achieved if these technology are accessible and used by providers and clinicians who are serving underserved patient populations that are experiencing health inequalities (Blount et al., 2023). Challenges ranging from integration into current clinic workflow, policies and/or insurance barriers, time, and costs are barriers to the meaningful use of the available technology that has implications for health equity (Blount et al., 2023). I believe we have the means and the technology in improving access to care, however, as mentioned, there are plenty of barriers that slows down this improvement. As advanced practice nurses, we must continue to advocate for policies that tears down barriers.

Issue 2: Improving Health Equity

"Nurses must be at the forefront of changes designed to improve health equity" (Nikpour et al., 2022, p. s10). Culture is known to be an active and socially built life that ties individuals and to achieve health equity, nurses in leadership roles must be able to reflect and recognize how culture impacts how they foster organizational culture, make strategic decision, and lead with an inclusive understanding (Nikpour et al., 2022). Senior nurses and/or nurse leaders are vital in developing a culture of inclusivity and must do the work of accepting the cultural humility framework and requires a commitment to accountability, and to listening and elevating the voices of organization members who have been targets of discrimination and exclusion (Nikpour et al., 2022)."

Question: Discuss the accuracy of these statements above and why it is important for healthcare policymaker/nursing leaders to address these two issues to improve nursing in general.
