Why is the climate drier on the eastern side of our California mountain ranges than it is on the western slopes?

a- Deserts are usually found on the east side of mountain ranges

b- The prevailing winds from the west are diverted by the mountain ranges and carry the moisture to northern California rather than eastward over the mountains

c- The prevailing winds force air to rise, cool, condense, and drop its precipitation on the west side, so that the air descending on the east side is dry

d- The dry winds from the Mojave Desert are blocked by the mountains and so do not dry the climate on the western slopes

e- The sun illuminates the eastern side of mountain ranges at a more direct angle, converting to heat energy, which evaporates most of the water present
