Assignment:

Carbon dioxide is a major driver of climate change. It is emitted from the combustion of fossil fuels and behaves as a greenhouse gas in the atmosphere, trapping heat and warming the planet. Our economy relies heavily on fossil fuels and there is very little incentive in most places to limit their use and develop alternatives. A carbon tax is a strategy to address this issue. Investigate what a carbon tax is, how it is applied, and how it is expected to work, and finally, discuss this topic in the context of the following prompt: Is taxing carbon the path to sustainability? Why or why not?
