ASSESSMENT TASKS
There are two (2) tasks to complete for this unit of competence:
This assessment is based on ACA Restaurant Café’ Business Plan and uses several scenarios to complete the 2 (two) Tasks. Certain tasks contain sub-tasks with written questionnaires, case study analysis, and project work.
These tasks comprise the assessment of the application of ACA Restaurant Café’ business standards and policy knowledge and addressing the need to design and produce electronic slide presentations using various applications and platforms.You will need to demonstrate management and administrative skills to employ in a range of work environments who design electronic presentations for business.These skills aim also in providing administrative support within ACA Restaurant Café’ for designing and working with documents relevant to own work roles.
You are required to respond to all the tasks by demonstrating your skills and knowledge within the assessment guidelines and requirements. Certain tasks have been developed with templates, tables, and sections with appropriate spaces, in which you will have to complete and/or provide information to ensure you demonstrate the skills and knowledge of the units. Marking criteria have been provided to support the student’s understanding of the requirement for each task.
To be deemed competent in this assessment each student must demonstrate throughselecting and preparing resources, designing, producing and finalising an electronic presentation. You are to reflect on the scenarios given anda specification table (considered as an organisational requirement)tocreate an electronic presentation using an appropriate softwareas required by ACA Restaurant Café’. You will have to respond to all the tasks by demonstrating your skills and knowledge within the assessment guidelines and requirements.
In Task 1B you are required to analyse the specification table and provide your responses within the given template and for Task 1C , you are to generate a timeline by following the sample, however you may choose your own timeline design of similar criteria, and lastly for Task 2A, you are required use the sample presentation templates given ( available on e-learning) as a guidelineand specification table provided, to create a new electronic presentation. In all cases of completing the tasks, you must follow specific instructions and guidance to ensure you validate the required skills and knowledge.
Your responses must comprise:
• a comprehensive, detailed and integrated work operations information and management plan
• a work strategy, operation procedures and ergonomic requirements
• a formal strategy to use presentation developingsoftware to complete business tasks and produce businesspresentations
• a reflection of current relevant legislation regarding diversity, working conditions and WHS acts
• formal and planned involvement with a wide range of stakeholders
• a documented risk, issues, and change-management methodology
• a quality execution plan with assurance and control processes of work operations forthe creation of business presentations
• a restaurant café’ team-based environment
Evidence of the following is important:
• demonstration of work operations implementation and its standards within the workplace to design and work with electronic presentations ensuringconsistent with task requirements and organisational policies and procedures relevant to follow designated timelines, design and layout and procedures for editing and style requirements.
Task 1 – Analysis and preparation through written responses
This activity has been designed to assess your knowledge and understanding of the need for research and analysis for managingand usingelectronic presentation designing software to complete business tasks and produce a presentation electronically.
This task consists of questionnaires which associate with the knowledge of the work operations procedures and standards throughemploying a range of work environments fostering ergonomic requirements, to create business presentationsand provide administrative support within the businessservices of the ACA Restaurant Café. It also caters to plan for satisfying the task requirements followed by a timeline to support completing work as per the schedule. The responses should include the following:
• Must be relevant to the scenarios, business functions and standards of ACA Restaurant Café that you will find in e-learning unless otherwise stated. Responses should link to the theoretical and legislative aspects of work operations followed by relevant experience/exposure within ACA Restaurant Café’ work environment and the scenario incident stated within the assessment. Your response to the questionnaires must relate to roles and responsibilities and business of the restaurant café.
• The questionnaires have been developed with templates and sections with appropriate spaces, in which you will have to complete and/or provide information to ensure you demonstrate the skills and knowledge of the units. Instructions are provided to which students must comply to gain the competency level.
• The development of the plan must comprise of the requirements to accommodate the performance requirements as stated in the task instructions, and to complete this task, the student must comply and use the template provided.
• The timeline must be developed with relevancy to contents included within the presentation and previous task. To complete this task, the student must comply with the instructions and use the given sample as a guideline to meet the performance criteria. Any form of a planned or estimated timeline that projects the duration of the presentation deliverycan be accepted, however, must meet the required performance criteria.
• Marking allocations have been stated with each task to support the comprehension of the required information to be delivered.
• Demonstrate that you can or have applied what you have learned, regardless of whether you have undertaken all the performance requirements ofthe workplace.
Task 2 – Development of presentation and written responses
This activity has been designed to assess your knowledge and understanding of using appropriate presentation development software and its relevant functions of computer operations to producea presentation in the appropriate format for reviewin accordance with organisation policies and procedures.
This task consists of demonstrating creating one (1) business presentation and written responses that will contribute to improving WHS issues within the work environment and ensuring staff is educated to comply with thepolicies and procedures of WHS through training. The execution of this task should include the following:
• Must be relevant to the standards and policies of ACA Restaurant Café, scenarios and specification requirements are given and Business Summary plan that you will find in e-learning unless otherwise stated. Responses should link to the theoretical and legislative aspects of customer service practices followed by relevant experience/exposure within ACA Restaurant Café’ work environment. The information provided must relate to roles and responsibilities and business of the restaurant café.
• To generate theelectronic presentation, you must refer to the provided presentation templates, and specification list with reference to the Scenarios stated and standards of ACA Restaurant Café and must comprise of the requirements to accommodate the performance requirements as stated in the task instructions and marking guide.
To complete this task, the student must comply and reflect on the sample and specification table given to ensure the developed document map with the requirement. You must follow the guidelines on how to demonstrate and/or complete the taskwith the use of the information given.

Task 1 – Preparation of the development ofthe presentation
ACA Restaurant Café’ have an obligation to attempt to resolve safety and health issues that may arise. Wherever possible, when an issue ascends, the restaurant café’ must attempt to resolve it with the safety and health representative or staff members employees, bestowing to the issue resolution procedure.
As a continuation of improving the WHS procedures within the restaurant café’, the Owners have instructed the Manager, Joe Roux to organise a safety meeting for all the staff members of the business. Through this meeting, they aim to discuss the WHS issues identified and how preventative measures against unsafe acts can be taken. Inaddition, through thismeeting, they also want to take the prospect to conduct a training session to guide the staff to improve theirwork commitments toward WHS policies and procedures and on how they can do their job safely.
They believe that through this session it can facilitate meaningful and constructive communication between the staff and management about how hazards and risks can best be managed and brainstorm ideas. Allowing staff members to discuss and contribute todecisions of certain issues, can increase their morale andmotivation in the restaurant café’.
A staff safety training meeting has been scheduled within 10 days from the current date and action plan has been decided for Tony Baldwin, the second Manager to create an electronic presentation that will contain useful information regarding WHS issues recognised, improvements applied and guidance for compliance to WHS procedures within the restaurant café’.
Specifications have been given by the Owners that reflect theorganisational policies and business’s image on how the presentation to be created. Tony Baldwin must comply to meet the business requirements. The presentation must be prepared and reviewed at least 3 days before the meeting. Those three days will be required to arrange staff rosters, the room for the meeting to be held with necessary set up of equipment (e.g. projector and white screen).
Joe Roux, the Manager has been assigned to supervise Tony Baldwin to design and create the presentation using suitablepresentation software. You will take the role of Tony Baldwin and follow the specification is given and certain requirements of design templateand, createan electronic presentation for the Staff Safety (WHS) Meeting and Training session.
You will also be required to develop a questionnaire document that will allow staff members attending the meeting to provide feedback about the information delivered and the way it was presented.
As an initial attempt, you have decided to identify an appropriate platform and /or software to create the presentation, identify the features it can offer, recognise the need of the business, analyse the purpose of the presentation and for whom, what contents to include to grab the attention of the audience, incorporating accurate data and plan how the presentation will be used with a timing strategy.

This is to reinforce the timely completion of the meeting and ensure that an effective presentation can be executed to avoid any delays that may impact on the overall work operations of the business.
You are to create a Gantt Chart that will include the time it will take to deliver each content of the presentation. Ensure to state what topics will be covered for each session – this may include cues and other notes from your presentation (what will happen, when and how – what techniques will be used).
You may provide the time schedule in any other form you think is suitable, however, it must meet the criteria.
A suggested sample has been given of how much time will be taken for each slide when using PowerPointpresentation.
Sample of the estimated time of each presentation:Each cell is considered as 1 minute. The presentation duration is for 9 minutes.
D. Create a supporting document listing of at least 5-8 (five to eight) questionsthat Presenter of the presentation (developed in Task 2A below) would seek from audience post-presentation.
Task 2 – Design, produce and adjustments applied to finalise a presentation
The Owners confirmed that the electronic presentation must meet the requirements of the business by using the Presentation template 1-9, designed by him on his preferred platform and provided a listed of certain specifications he prefers to be incorporated within the presentation during the Staff Safety (WHS) Meeting and Training session.
However, he has given the scope for the staff to select appropriate presentation development software, layout, and style, and apply design features with consistent formatting that would meet and reflect the business requirements.
The following data has been given by the Owner to maintain the consistency of the organisational requirement:

Question 3: Joe Roux had revised the presentation you have drafted and commented that the slides did not cater to the need of the different staff members who were going to be present at the safety meeting. He has advised you arerequired to modify the presentation by identifying the need of each staff attending and customise the presentation.
Outline in details what advanced application features would you use and how would you restructure and customise the presentation for different staff members of ACA Restaurant Café’.
Question 4: It is important to be familiar with all the factors relating to the production of the presentation before creating, which includesformat and style.

Question 5: During creating the presentation,you identified that you had to add the logo in each slide of the presentation software by copying and pasting the image every time. This is very time-consuming.
There is a feature available in presentation software named “Slide Master” which can assist with this issue. It provides an easy way to contain the same font or images in all slides, adjust the look of an existing theme or make changes to all slides in the presentation and save time. However, you are not a confident user of that feature. You decided to use the help function to learn the use of this feature.
State how you can gain explanation and support using the help functions to rectify this issue. Where can these options be located?
Question 6: Every business will have procedures and systems in place that determine how and where presentations are stored. Listwhat is involved when you will storethe presentation you created in Task 2A for ACA Restaurant Café’. Also, outline what you should consider when storing the presentation.
