Topic 3 Journal
Assessment Description
In this journal reflection, answer the following prompts, writing in first person only. Cite any sources that you would use.
1. The Peacemaker readings for Topic 3 discuss honoring God and taking appropriate responsibility in a conflict. Explain why it is appropriate to honor God in a conflict situation.
2. Along with The Peacemaker, the Topic 2 readings from Strengthening the Soul of Your Leadership also discuss the importance of taking personal responsibility. From these readings, share one concept about helping others take responsibility, explaining why this concept impacted you.
3. Reflect on your tendencies in a conflict situation. For example, do you avoid taking responsibility for your contributions to the conflict? Do you take responsibility that is not yours to take, letting others off the hook? Do you take responsibility too late or too soon? Do you take an appropriate level of responsibility? Based on your reflection of your past tendencies, what changes might you take in the future? Where do you see potential for personal growth in this area?
4. From your field experience, share one observation you have made about conflict in the church. What can you learn from this observation?
