Several challenges affect human resources management in the health care industry today. First, you must understand human resource leadership and its importance. Before you engage in this week's discussion, read this article titled "Why Human Resources Management Is So Important" and watch the brief video within it titled "Why HR Matters Now More Than Ever."

Next, consider the various challenges that affect health care human resources operations today. Assume you are a health care HR leader. Pick one operational challenge to analyze (i.e., strategies to achieve the organization's strategic goal, conflict management role as a HR leader, overall talent management process, overall recruitment and retention of health care workforce, compensation plans for the entire organization, etc.). For this discussion, either choose to research a well-supported response of yourself discussing the following:

  • Describe what the challenge is and why.
  • Describe how you might address the issue.
  • Discuss HR managerial tools (including metrics) used to address the healthcare challenge.
  • Explain how addressing the issue will improve healthcare HR operations and the overall organizational performance.
  • Summarize why you think the HR role is important.
