During World War II there was a freeze on wages, and corporations found they could evade the freeze by providing other fringe benefits such as retirement funds and health insurance for their employees. The Office of Price Administration, which administered the wage freeze, ruled that the offer of retirement funds and health literature was not a violation of the freeze. The Internal Revenue Service went along with this and ruled that employer-financed retirement and health insurance plans were not taxable income. Was the wage freeze an example of a price floor or a price ceiling? Use the model of demand and supply to explain why employers began to offer such benefits to their employees.
Suppose the total benefit derived from a given decision, Q, is B(Q)=25Q-Q^2 and the corresponding total cost is C(Q) = 5 + Q^2, so that MB(Q) = 25 -2Q and MC(Q) = 2Q What is the total cost when Q=2 and when Q=10
Event 1: The wages for all dental assistants increase, increasing the costs of inputs. Event 2: The government provides national dental insurance benefits for all U.S. citizens that cover 100% of the cost of all dental services.
A company makes a piece whose income is 100-0.02n marginal and total cost is \(0.0002n^{2} 10000\) . Where n is the volume of production. What is the volume of production to minimize unit production cost, maximize profit and break even point
(b) At what level of employment would diminishing returns set in for the variable input (c) If the market determined real wage rate is $20 determine the amount of labor a cost minimizong firm would hire in order to minimize the total of production
Following is a multiple regression in which dependent variable is market value of houses and independent variables are the age of the house and square footage of the house.
All of its current sales are to private sector customers and each pays $12.00 per unit for the equipment. The sales price is equal to 150% of average variable costs. A government agency has offered to purchase 300,000 units at $10.00 each. If Comp..
in the keynesian cross, the consumption function is c=200+0.75(Y-T). planned investment is 100, govt purchase and tax are both 100. a)graph planned expenditure as a function of income. b)what's the equilibrium level of income.
A Xerox copier is making only faintcopies (event F). The office manager needs to determine thecause of this. In general, copiers may have electricalproblems (E), mechanical problems (M), user problems (U), or noproblems (N).
The rent market price for a 1-bedroom condominium in NYC is $3,000. However, the government does not allow these prices to be charged and establishes a price ceiling. This means that the government sets the maximum rent that can be charged.
At the end of their useful lives, both A and B may be purchased with the same cost, benefits, and so forth. If the MARR is 12%, which alternative should be selected based on the internal rate of return using the least common multiple approach.
Suppose the quantity x of Super Titan radial tires made available each week in the marketplace is related to the unit-selling price by the following equation where x is measured in units of a thousand and p is in dollars.
a multiple regression analysis based on a data set that consists of 30 observations yielded the following estimated demand equation: Q=120 - 1.1P + 0.04I + .90A where P is the price, I is Income, and A is advertising. If price is equal to $1000, i..
