Problem: The First World War gave us Armistice Day, which is more often referred to in the United States as Veterans' Day. Americans in general tend to memorialize and recall the Second World War (1939-1945) much more than the First World War. For example, every major city in Australia has a large memorial and museum specifically about the First World War. In Great Britain, the entire month of November is a month of remembrance and everyone wears felt poppies on their clothes to remember all modern wars, but WWI most of all. The United States played a decisive role in the First World War. Why, then, does the United States not memorialize this war as much? Explain your thoughts and support them with evidence from the coursework.
