Why does the book not use NaOH for both synthesis of 1-butanol from 1-chlorobutane and then from 2-chlorobutane? for 2-chlorobutane it makes 1-butene first, then reacts that with HBr in peroxide to make 1-bromobutane which is then reacted with NaOH to finally create the 1-butanol. why did it go this path?
