You and many other project managers and companies are invited to propose and develop an IT project planning that assists the business owners to achieve their goals. You have the option of choosing one of the four cases listed in Canvas site and defining the IT project scope and value. You should manage and plan the proposed project. Some key questions to answer are:
o What is the problem? Why do you want to-do this project? What are the benefits/values that it will bring? How are you going to solve the problem/s? what defines success?
Please note that you will be drawing from your life and/or industry experiences as well as from your university education in SPQM to write proposal. It is also expected that you doappropriate research to understand the problem and seek solutions. Please note the quality of your proposed project will be assessed as the given explanation in brackets in italic format at the end of each point below.
The project requirements are as below:
1. Your proposal should be a unique project and an IT related solution. You should explain the value the project will bring, clarify the MOV steps and statement and propose how your project will deliver the value. In this process, also clarify project and project management objectives and success. List all assumptions required to be considered. (The quality of the developed and discussed MOV and your project's value and project and project management will be considered in assessing this section of your proposal.)
2. To-do this , you are encouraged to clarify the Scope of the project, estimated Time to complete the project, estimated Cost of the project. To estimate the time and cost, an appropriate approach should be selected and discussed accordingly. For the cost estimation, provide initial budgeting in terms of required Hardware, Software and Human Resource. You should develop WBS in in a tabular format and identify the required tasks/activities and milestones. You are also required to identify dependencies and the CPM. (The quality of scope identification, accuracy of estimation methods and appropriate planning will be considered in assessing this section. You should use a Gantt Chart or a table to present the project plan.)
3. In your proposal, you should develop a code of ethics for future teamwork. (The quality of code of ethics will be considered in assessing this section.)
4. Finally, for the quality purpose ensure that you're referring to appropriate Project Management Approach/Methodology to show how the project will be managed and the quality will be controlled/monitored. (The quality of discussion related to chosen approach/methodology will be considered in assessing this section.)
5. Consider online aspect of working, planning, and managing the IT project in developing all the above points.
Expectations:
It's required that your proposed project provides an appropriate value to the domain. For this purpose, you should follow and discuss the MOV steps and provide the MOV statement in detail.
It's required that your proposal explains and differentiate project/project management objectives and success.
It's required that you choose a relevant estimation method for project time and cost management and use them appropriately in your report.
Please note that project tasks/activities/time/cost can be shown in a Gantt Chart format or you can provide them in a table format for clarity.
It's expected that you clarify relevant and appropriate assumptions for your project.
The project management approach should be appropriately developed and discussed. You may consider this in developing WBS and highlight it.
Case study : Healthy Eat Project
Mr. Jake, CEO of 4 stars restaurants from Paris has decided to move to Canberra-ACT. He has recently purchased a small local restaurant where they provide health food for their customers. Mr. Jake brought his knowledge to this restaurant and the goal is to be the number one healthy outlet in Canberra with 90% of Canberrans having healthy diet.
HealthyEat deals with the purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables that they use to create healthy food for sale at the restaurant. The growers of fruits and vegetables deliver their product to the wholesale companies. Mr. Jake's staff place orders with these wholesalers using telephone calls and a fax-based ordering system. The wholesalers then deliver the fruits and vegetables that have been ordered to Mr. Jake's central facilities, where they are packed to go to the individual restaurant outlets. The transport to the restaurant outlets is then carried out by a contracted logistics/distribution company.
Mr. Jake has asked you to lead the development of a new online fruit and vegetable ordering and payment system to be used when working with his suppliers. He explains to you the problems that he is having with delays in receiving fruits and vegetables ordered from suppliers. He has received complaints from suppliers stating that staff from HealthyEat expects delivery of fruit within 24 hours of an order being placed. Three of the suppliers only guarantee 48 hours delivery. It has been suggested that a policy of 24 hours delivery may be unreasonable. Suppliers have also complained that orders that are sent by fax can be hard to read. The online platform should also facilitate marketing and better interaction. You and your company are invited to propose and develop a project planning that assists HealthyEat to run their business and achieve their goals. In order to be successful, they will consider the quality of your answers as a factor of choosing the best project. It is also expected that you provide the organisation with a snapshot of how the solution work.
